Canada Place cruise terminal: where Vancouver cruises leave from
All 749 sailings on our schedule leave from the Canada Place cruise terminal at 999 Canada Place, on the downtown Vancouver waterfront beside Waterfront station. Cars go in by the ramp at the foot of Howe Street, and the port says bag drop opens between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. on sailing day. After check-in and security screening you clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection inside the terminal, the last step before you board.

Every cruise on our schedule starts at one building, the Canada Place cruise terminal on Vancouver's downtown waterfront. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority owns and runs it, Canada Place says, and calls itself the Port of Vancouver on its passenger pages. The port's passenger pages and Canada Place's own site are the sources for almost everything below.
- Terminal. The Canada Place cruise terminal, run by the Port of Vancouver.
- Address. 999 Canada Place, Vancouver, BC V6C 3E1. Holland America notes that this is not a mailing address.
- Next door. Waterfront station, for SkyTrain's Canada Line to YVR airport, the Expo Line, the SeaBus and the West Coast Express.
- Car entrance. The vehicle ramp at the foot of Howe Street, for drop-off, pick-up and the parkade.
- Bag drop. Opens between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. Pacific time on the day you sail.
- Order of things. Bag drop, check-in, security screening, then U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
- Parking. The Canada Place parkade under the terminal, run by Indigo. See Vancouver cruise parking.
This site is independent. It is not the Port of Vancouver, Canada Place or a cruise line.
Where is the Canada Place cruise terminal?
At 999 Canada Place, on the Vancouver waterfront at the foot of Howe Street, next to Waterfront station. The Port of Vancouver's directions page puts the terminal beside TransLink's Waterfront station, where SkyTrain, buses, the SeaBus ferry and the West Coast Express commuter train meet. Canada Place's visitor page says the same: you reach it from Waterfront station by SkyTrain, SeaBus or the West Coast Express.
The terminal is one part of Canada Place. According to Canada Place's visitor page, the building also holds the Vancouver Convention Centre East, the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver, FlyOver, the World Trade Centre, Indigo's parkade and the port authority's offices.
You will see two postal codes. The port's trip-planner link and Holland America use V6C 3E1 for the terminal. Royal Caribbean uses V6C 3T4, which is the code Canada Place's site gives for the port authority's offices in the same building. Both are 999 Canada Place.
Which cruises leave from the Canada Place cruise terminal?
All of them. The Port of Vancouver's passenger pages describe one cruise terminal, Canada Place, and all 749 sailings on our schedule, on 14 cruise lines, leave from it. That includes the Alaska round trips, the one-way trips north to Seward and Whittier, and the voyages to Hawaii, the Pacific coast, Japan and the Panama Canal.
Your cruise documents are the final word. Royal Caribbean's Vancouver page tells guests to check their documents for the departure terminal and then follow the signs at the port to their ship. Princess's Vancouver page says the port location is subject to change and asks you to check your itinerary after booking.
Canada Place berths: East, North, West and Southeast
The Port of Vancouver publishes a cruise ship calendar that names a berth for every ship on every day it is in port: East, North, West or Southeast, or "Tender" when the ship lies at anchor. Canada Place's own visitor page describes the terminal as having three berths and room for up to four ships at once.
Where the port's calendar lists a sailing, our tables print the berth in a line under the ship, for example "Boards at Canada Place, East berth". The port has published its 2027 calendar (version 1.2, dated 24 September 2026, and marked subject to change) but no 2028 calendar yet, so 2028 sailings show no berth. Either way, the port says to follow the posted signs and the cruise line's staff to baggage and check-in when you arrive.
How do you drop off at the Canada Place cruise terminal?
Drive down the vehicle ramp at the foot of Howe Street. A Port of Vancouver traffic attendant near the top of the ramp gives you a lane, and you follow it down to the drop-off point. The steps, from the port's directions page:
- Enter by the vehicle ramp at the foot of Howe Street.
- Take instructions from the traffic attendant near the top of the ramp.
- Drive down the ramp in the lane the attendant gives you, to the drop-off location.
- Take your bags to the area marked for your ship, and tell the cruise line staff which ship you are sailing on.
Keep passports and medication with you, not in your checked bags. The port allows stops of 15 minutes or less in the Canada Place parkade to drop off or pick up cruise passengers. A driver who stays longer takes a stall and pays at a machine or online.
The street in front of the building, Canada Place, has been one-way westbound between Burrard and Howe streets since 1 January 2026, the City of Vancouver says. Howe Street between Canada Place and West Cordova Street is still two-way.
Uber and Lyft drop-off at Canada Place
Ride-hailing cars may drop you off, but only on level P2 of the Canada Place parkade. The port lists three ways in for them: the main parkade entrance off Canada Place Way, the east side entrance off Waterfront Road and the Cordova Street tunnel. It says guests must never be dropped off on Canada Place Way, Howe Street or Cordova Street.
They may not pick up at the terminal. After your cruise, the port says to meet your driver at one of the City of Vancouver's ride-hailing pick-up zones at street level.
Where do you park at the Canada Place cruise terminal?
In the Canada Place parkade, under the building and run by Indigo. Long-term cruise parking there cost C$74.50 a day, in Canadian dollars, when we checked Indigo's cruise parking page on 4 November 2026. The port gives height limits of 198 cm (6'6") on P1 and 205 cm (6'9") on P2 and asks drivers of taller vehicles to call Indigo.
The Vancouver cruise parking guide covers booking, refunds, height limits and the three other downtown garages Indigo sells to cruise passengers.
How do you get to Canada Place from YVR airport?
Without a car, take SkyTrain. TransLink's Canada Line runs between YVR-Airport station and Waterfront station, beside the terminal, with no change of train. Trains leave the airport from 5:09 a.m. to 12:54 a.m., about every 6 minutes at peak times and every 15 minutes late at night, according to TransLink's SkyTrain page on 4 November 2026.
Taxis and booked transfers are the other choices. The YVR airport to Canada Place guide compares them, with fares and travel times.
What time can you drop bags at Canada Place?
The port says baggage can be checked from between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. Pacific time on the day you sail. Tell the cruise line staff your ship's name when you hand over your bags. They go straight to your cabin.
Your cruise line sets the time you should arrive. Princess, for one, uses arrival groups in Vancouver for cruises leaving on or after 2 June 2026. You choose a group in the Princess app, where selection usually opens 30 days before you sail, or Princess assigns one 24 hours before embarkation. If you arrive early, Princess says you may drop off your luggage but will be asked to come back at your group's time to enter the terminal.
What happens at check-in and U.S. preclearance at Canada Place?
You go through four steps in this order, according to the port:
- Bag drop. Hand your checked bags to the cruise line staff and give your ship's name.
- Check-in. At the counter, the cruise line checks your travel ID and booking and, if needed, gives you your onboard ID card.
- Security screening, on the cruise ship terminal level, marked CS. Have your booking confirmation ready, and ask your cruise line beforehand which items are restricted.
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The port says that because cruise ships are considered U.S. jurisdiction, every passenger goes through CBP before boarding. It comes after screening and is the last step before the ship.
CBP's own name for the check at the Vancouver cruise terminal is pre-inspection. Its preclearance fact sheet of May 2013 calls it passport control only, done on cruise ships and trains in Vancouver, with customs and agriculture formalities completed on arrival. An article in CBP's Frontline magazine, last modified 2 December 2025, says pre-inspection deals only with whether people have the right to travel to the United States. It adds that the CBP officers who staff preclearance at Vancouver's airport travel to the cruise port as needed. CBP's preclearance page lists one Vancouver preclearance site, in the airport's international terminal, and does not mention the cruise terminal.
The port encourages you to check your travel documents before you arrive, to cut waiting times. It also says international visitors need the right Electronic Travel Authorization for Canada (eTA) or ESTA for the United States before they reach the terminal. The cruise documents guide covers passports, Canada's eTA and which papers each traveler needs.
Is the Canada Place cruise terminal accessible?
Yes. The port says the terminal is subject to parts of Canada's Accessible Transportation for Persons with Disabilities Regulations. Canada Place's visitor page says most of the facility is at ground level, every level has accessible washrooms and the parkade has accessible parking stalls.
For a wheelchair inside the terminal, the port says to contact your cruise line before you arrive. To rent a wheelchair or scooter, book ahead with Scootaround (1-888-441-7575) or Special Needs at Sea (1-800-513-4515), and the company tells you where to collect it at Canada Place.
The terminal takes part in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. A team member wearing a sunflower badge can give you a lanyard, though the port says it brings no special treatment or faster security screening. For service animals there are two relief stations, one outdoors on the cruise ship level before security and one in the secured area after it, and animals stay on a leash.
What happens when you get off the ship in Vancouver?
You collect your bags in the terminal's baggage area, then clear Canadian customs with the Canada Border Services Agency. The port says you must fill in a declaration card, form E311, and show it to the CBSA. You do not need to show your passport when you disembark, the port says, but you must present the card.
The CBSA lists Canada Place as one of its designated cruise ship operations sites. Its cruise clearance procedures make the E311 compulsory for every passenger and allow a family member or fellow traveler to complete it for children or disabled persons. They also ask that the card not be filled in before the night before the ship reaches Canada.
Getting a taxi, Uber or limo at Canada Place after your cruise
The port publishes flat taxi rates from the terminal. These are the rates on its directions page when we read it on 4 November 2026:
| From the Canada Place cruise terminal to | Taxi flat rate |
|---|---|
| Vancouver International Airport (YVR) | C$42 |
| Downtown hotels | From C$16 |
| Pacific Central Station, which the port calls the Greyhound and bus terminal | From C$16 |
| Anywhere else | Metered, by time and distance |
The port lists four taxi companies: Black Top and Checker Cabs (1-800-494-1111), MacLure's Cabs (604-831-1111), Vancouver Taxi (604-871-1111) and Yellow Cabs (604-681-1111).
The other ways out:
- Ride-hailing. No pick-ups at the terminal. Meet your Uber or Lyft at a City of Vancouver ride-hailing zone at street level.
- Limousines. Book one from the port's approved list. After you disembark, check in with a traffic attendant at Door D, who has your car sent to the terminal. Companies not on the list meet guests at street level.
- Someone collecting you. Your driver takes the Howe Street ramp, follows the attendant and the signs to the orange zone on P1, and pulls into the immediate pick-up lane. If you are not there yet, the port asks them to leave the lane and wait in a paid parking stall.
- Gray Line Westcoast Sightseeing. It is at the ground transportation desk in the terminal, selling private transfers and sightseeing tours, and can arrange buses to Victoria, Bellingham, Seattle and SeaTac airport. Phone 1-877-451-1777.
- Car rental. Ascent Car Rental and Tours is on the ground level of the terminal. Phone 604-416-4600.
Can you store luggage at Canada Place?
Yes, for the day. Westcoast Sightseeing, which the port lists as Big Bus Tours Westcoast Sightseeing, runs day baggage storage in the terminal. The port says it is for cruise passengers only, with no overnight storage. Holland America's Vancouver page gives the same hours as the operator.
From Westcoast Sightseeing's page, read on 4 November 2026:
- Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Collect your bags by 4:30 p.m.
- Coming off the ship, go to the Ground Transportation Desk to drop your bags. Pick them up at the Welcome Kiosk.
- There is no limit on the number of bags and no size limit. It charges by bag, large (checked-bag size) or small (carry-on size).
- Bags not claimed by 5:00 p.m. go to the YVR Airport Baggage Service desk in Domestic Arrivals, Level 2, and you pay a $75 charge when you collect them. The page does not name the currency.
Phone 1-877-451-1777 if you cannot find the desk.
Lost and found at the Canada Place cruise terminal
It depends on where you lost it. For anything lost in or around the terminal, the port's FAQ says to call the Canada Place security office on 604-684-8525 during the cruise season. For something left on the ship, or a checked bag that never turned up, contact your cruise line, because the terminal does not handle lost baggage. For a U.S. passport lost or found at the terminal, the same FAQ gives email contacts at the U.S. State Department.
Need something delivered to a ship? The port says to go through the ship's passenger agent, because Canada Place staff cannot arrange deliveries.
Hotels near the Canada Place cruise terminal
The Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver is in the Canada Place building itself, and the port's flat taxi rate from the terminal to a downtown hotel started at C$16 when we checked on 4 November 2026. The hotels near Canada Place guide compares places to stay the night before you sail. To pick a sailing first, browse cruises from Vancouver by month.
